Professional Bio
I am an enthusiastic researcher with a unique combination of knowledge, skills and expertise from the fields of medical science, psychology and education. My passion lies in improving health and wellbeing through holistic and multidisciplinary approaches, particularly through focusing on ground-up, community-driven needs. I have been with CQUniversity for most of my research journey, but have enjoyed collaborations with researchers from universities and institutions both nationally and internationally. Throughout my PhD and subsequent role as project manager of the NHMRC psychosocial resilience and suicide prevention study (see details below), I have provided leadership in research investigating the experiences and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians accessing boarding schools. I have recently been applying my skills in qualitative research to developmental evaluation, currently working with CRE-STRIDE at the University Centre for Rural Health. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my research career, my passion for mental health and wellbeing has remained, and I am now undertaking my Masters in Professional Psychology to work towards a career as both a registered psychologist and a researcher. It is my goal to combine day-to-day impact and practice as a psychologist with system-level research that creates change and works toward equity for all Australians in health and wellbeing.
