Professional Bio
Dr Carmel Harrington has been working in the world of sleep for almost 20 years.
A former lawyer and educator, she has a PhD is Sleep Medicine from the University od Sydney and consults to companies and educational institutions both locally and overseas on the importance of sleep on our health, well-being and performance.
Dr Harrington is the Managing Director of 'Sleep for Health' and an Honorary Research Fellow at The Children's Hospital, Westmead. She is a founding member of the Sleep Health Foundation and a member of the Australasian Sleep Association.
In 2012 she published her first book, "The Sleep Diet", which explained the fundamental connection between sleep and wellness, particularly highlighting how sleep impacts on out ability to maintain a healthy body weight.
Her second book, "The Complete Guide to a Good Night's Sleep' is available from 30 April 2014 in bookshops and on-line. The book explains the many and varied causes for sleeplessness and provides a step by step guide on how to overcome these problems allowing for deep restful sleep on a permanent basis.
