Somerville House is just a stone's throw from the city and is the only private boarding school for girls in the heart of Brisbane. Located on the edge of the South Bank Parklands and the Brisbane River, the School is within easy walking distance to Brisbane's CBD, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), the Gabba sports ground and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Boarders often run or walk the path around South Bank Parklands and the Kangaroo Point cliffs on the weekends or after school. The Boarding House is located in a modern, secure facility at the heart of the School.

Girls are accommodated in dorm-like rooms of three students in the younger years, and in rooms of two in Year 11, and finally in individual rooms, with a city VISTA and private sunset deck, when the girls reach Year 12.

We enjoy getting to know each girl; who she is and where she comes from.

Through the 'Monday Mindset,' 'Tuesday Check-In' programs and a student-designed program of recreational activities, we encourage an 'ask us anything' attitude, which sets the strong foundation for building tolerance, empathy, resilience and coping strategies.

We continually seek new ways to inject fun into the daily lives of our boarders, supporting our new girls, in particular, to lose their inhibitions and enjoy time spent with their boarding sistersLife is busy, but that is how we like it.
